How the IPL works
Players and teams were bought by their teams through an auction, with the top players going for well over $1,000,000. The teams consist mainly of Indian and Pakistani players although players from around the globe play in the league and it looks as if players from all over the world will increasingly be playing in the IPL as there is no other alternative which pays anywhere near as much money as the IPL.
Eight teams who play each other in a league format, home and away over 56 games the top four teams then go into semi finals before playing the final.
