2015 Cricket World Cup betting odds - bookies set opening lines

SYDNEY, Australia - Australia have been installed as the early favourites in the betting on the 2015 World Cup. The Aussies are the joint hosts of the tournament, although it is not yet known where the final will be played. Australia can be backed at best odds of 7/2 (bet $20 to make $70 profit) with bet365 and Stan James.

New Zealand are on offer at 14/1 with Skybet, despite the fact they made the semi finals of the 2011 World Cup when they faced much more unsuitable wickets on the Indian subcontinent.

Second favourites at best odds of 9/2 with Skybet are reigning champions India. They are followed by South Africa at 9/2 with Skybet. Pakistan are next in the betting at 6/1 with bet365, followed by England at 7/1 with bet365.

Sri Lanka are 7/1 with Stan James to go one better than their runner up position in 2011, while West Indies are 16/1 with bet365 and Bangladesh are 100/1 with Stan James to stage an unlikely massive improvement in their ODI form.

It is unlikely that any of the teams outside the top 10 ICC rated teams will be allowed into the 2015 World Cup as television viewing figures for matches involving teams such as Holland and Ireland were so low that it was felt the games just added too many fixtures to the World Cup schedule.
